Spencer left a successful career in healthcare behind to follow his passion for painting and has never looked back. Though Spencer took art classes in college he does not have a formal degree in the field, though he would not say he is self-taught. Instead, his aunt, who was also a professional artist, taught him to paint in childhood, and as an adult he chose to sharpen his skills through studying with nationally acclaimed artists, sometimes traveling across country to do it. This has allowed him to gather a vast and diverse knowledge of techniques, styles, and skills which he then shares with his students.   

Spencer enjoys teaching painters of all ages in Central Ohio and Northern Michigan as well as other locations around the country. He believes that the experience of painting is as important as the final product, which makes for truly enjoyable classes.
